Opcode caching speeds up your website by temporarily storing compiled PHP scripts in memory. This means PHP does not have to recompile the same code on every request, resulting in faster load times and a lower server load. Opcode caching is disabled by default, but you can easily enable it per website.
Enabling opcode caching
- Log in to the client area and open the website dashboard.
- Go to Advanced → Optimisation.
- Scroll to the Caching section.
- Set Opcode caching to On.
The change takes effect immediately. In most cases, no further configuration is needed.
When is opcode caching recommended?
- For WordPress and PHP websites
- For websites with many page views
- To achieve better performance at no extra cost
Good to know
- Opcode caching works together with the PHP version you have set.
- After major code changes (for example a theme or plugin update), you may sometimes need to briefly refresh the cache.
- Do you already use other caching solutions (such as page cache or object cache)? Opcode caching complements them perfectly.
